iida 2010: Incheon International Design Award 2010 - Green Heart

Incheon Metropolitan City, KOREA, together with designboom promotes an international design competition called iida 2010: Incheon International Design Award 2010. Organized by Incheon Business Agency, this event sponsored are: Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Republic of Korea,Korea Institute of Design Promotion, designflux, Incheon Industrial Design Association and Incheon Design Company Association.

“iida 2010” with 'Green Heart' theme seeks fresh and new design proposals to be made by designers with green hearts, being aware of the environment. Green design is a joyful way to give sustainable change to the daily life in the city. iida 2010 welcoming active participation of competent world designers with the goal of opening possibilities for sustainable life through design.

There are 3 categories of entries:

1. Green Design for Human: Life style design which helps realize ways to consider the environment in daily life. This category include: daily goods, home appliances, lightings, furnitures, stationerys, home devices, cars, packaging, etc.
2. Green Design for City: Innovative and effective public design which suggests the possibility of an eco-friendly city. This category include: Architecture, interior design, road, public area, park, street furniture, public facilities, urban infrastructure, etc.
3. Green Design for Communication: Design taking lead in social communication for the diffusion of green design and green life style. Including: Poster, video, advertisement, illustration, campaign, software, mass media, networking, etc.

“iida 2010” is open to all the designers in the world. Application to “iida 2010” is free of charge and qualification for entry is unlimited. The registration on-line for the design entry at “iida 2010” is done through the world famous design portal site based in Milano, Italy, called designboom.com.

The final registration time is open until 17:00 (GMT: Greenwich Mean Time) of the 25th of August 2010(Wed). The results of “iida 2010” would be announced in September 2010 on the homepages of iida, designboom and designflux. The exact date will be notified on the homepages.

“iida 2010” plans to publish a catalogue with the winner designs and these works will also be shown to the public in a gallery form on iida, designboom, and designflux. The iida 2010 Awards Ceremony and Opening of the Exhibition will be held on the 18th of November 2010, at the Songdo Convensia, Incheon Metropolitan City, Korea. The winners will exhibit their works from the 18th to the 21st of November at the venue of Incheon International Design Fair, a worldly festival of design which takes place at Songdo Convensia.

The winners are invited to the 2010 Incheon International Design Fair and to participate in the Awards Ceremony. They will have opportunities to present their award winning works to the companies based in Incheon and socialize with them for two days during the event period.

Among the winner designs, if a 3-D model would be effective for the exhibition, the host and organizer have rights to fabricate a mock-up of the design and exhibit it.

The applicant is entitled to the intellectual property of the entry design at“iida 2010” and the host and organizer have the rights to publish and use the image contents and catalogue of the submitted works. Incheon Metropolitan City will possesses the right to use the copyright of the winning designs until 31 December 2010 and Korean companies will be provided a priority to negotiate the conditions of copyright.

The total amount of cash prize at iida 2010 is USD 43,000. The prize and awards will be conferred in the name of the mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City.

• iida 2010 2nd award : 2 design works, each USD 3,000 / Invitation expense each USD 3,000
• iida 2010 3rd award : 3 design works, each USD 2,000 / Invitation expense each USD 3,000
• iida 2010 netizen’s choice awards: 3 design works, each USD 500
• iida 2010 people's choice awards: 3 design works, each USD 500
